Tons of Traffic, but Few Conversions Three Ideas for Repurposing Blog Traffic

Tons of Traffic, but Few Conversions Three Ideas for Repurposing Blog Traffic Did they say that hard work pays?Well, it doesn’t seem to have paid in your case. You worked hard to produce original content for your blog only to get traffic that does you no good.Ok, let’s be a bit positive.Your hard work did pay off. You got lots of traffic. The very thing every blogger and online marketer dreams of.But surely, getting lots of traffic isn’t the end, is it?Your tons of traffic was meant to lead to tons of conversions, right?Yet this isn’t the case. You have the traffic but very few conversions. Obviously something somewhere is not right. You might be encouraged to know that you are not alone in this. You are not the only blogger to experience this. That however is not to mean that you can safely and confidently remain in the situation. You need to do something. Fast. But before you rush to doing anything, slow down a little and understand the problem first.Because if you don’t, you are bound to experience it again.WHY YOU HAVE TRAFFIC BUT NO CONVERSIONSImagi ne operating a retail store and you see many customers walking in. You would be excited, expecting that sales will be high. But what if the customers just walked around and bought nothing? In the same way, from your blog, you should see visitors taking the action you hoped they would. To understand the situation, below are some possible reasons.Your offers are not compelling enough. You have something valuable you are selling. Or at least giving out. But if people are not buying or showing interest in the giveaway, then they obviously don’t think they need it.In case they know they need it but still don’t take it, then it’s an issue of them not being convinced.Simply put, you have not convinced them of the need of what you are offering. If they are not convinced, then the likely problem could be caused by one of two things, or both:Value propositionWhatever you are offering, be it a product or service, it must prove itself valuable even before it is bought. Your readers must see the value they will get from what you are offering. If they can’t see that, they won’t buy.Understand that your readers have a problem. Actually, many problems. But for the one which has brought them to your site, they expect you to help them with it.So, as they read through your blog, they are looking for what will convince them you can help them. The reason they are not buying, might be because they haven’t seen the value of it as described in your blog. They might be sensing too much hype, making them do the opposite of what you hoped for.Your messageHow you communicate matters. You may have a great product but poor communication. And when it comes to online marketing, you really have to invest in stellar communication. This is where you bring in a professional copywriter. If you are the copywriter, you should take this situation to mean you are not writing well enough. If for some reason you cannot hire a pro, then you need to learn how to write great copy.Copy is the materia l which is intended to sell a product or service. This is more like the transcript of an advertisement. If you have a quality product, then you need the right words to talk about it.You are using high-volume keywords. Keywords are key in SEO. If you are to enjoy any success in online marketing, you must know how to implement SEO. At least the basics. With many aspects of SEO being necessary to the establishing of a strong brand, keywords are easily the simplest implementation of them all. Still, there are different kinds of keywords. It happens that the easiest to work with are the high-volume keywords. This is because they are very attractive to marketers and bloggers since they draw in massive traffic.Keyword research tools make it easy to know which keywords are being searched for most. As a result, many people go for those with the highest searches. The reasoning is simple and quite true in theory: the more the traffic, the more the conversions. In reality though, the best that can b e produced by these keywords is a higher number of possible conversions.Be sure to get the difference: more traffic doesn’t guarantee more conversions. It merely provides an opportunity for more conversions.Using the example given earlier of a retail store, more traffic is like more customers in the store. The high number of people does not guarantee purchases. It just increases the possibility of high sales. It is after attracting the traffic that you need to think harder about convincing them to buy.If you are getting tons of traffic but little conversions, then it could be because you used high-volume keywords.Apart from greatly lowering your conversion rates, consider the below potential downsides of these keywords.High bounce ratesHigh bounce rates are one of the things everyone wants to avoid, including you. High bounce rates indicate that there are too many visitors to your site who leave soon after landing there. This can be a big discouragement to you when you are working h ard to build your brand. With a high bounce rate, you will never build trust with your visitors. Also, you will not successfully create awareness for your brand and worse still, may struggle repairing the damage caused.Higher costs for clicksVery few websites exist on the internet without some form of Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. Some refer to it as Cost Per Click (CPC). If you have these running on your site and they are part of the traffic source, you are in trouble. Many people are seeing your ads and clicking them. They may be on the search engine search results page or hosted on other websites.Since you pay for the times the ads are clicked, then you will surely be paying a lot of money. This wouldn’t have been a problem if you were getting what you were looking for. But now that you aren’t, it is therefore an extra cost.An unnecessary cost. This underscores the need to act quickly.Wasted lead generation effortsLead generation is important for your blogging business. You a im to cultivate your prospects and bring them to a point of making a decision. The more decisions are made the better. You therefore naturally put in efforts in this noble task. But when you have a lot of traffic, you will definitely get a lot of irrelevant inquiries. Some people may simply not have seen what they wanted then opted to ask you about it.Maybe even call you.Only for you to realize that the conversation is headed nowhere. You may probably not respond to some of the form submissions, thus saving some efforts. But what about the time it took you to read or skim through them? Your time is just as important as any other resource you have. And when it’s not used for productivity, then it’s getting wasted. You have not achieved authority status.Another reason you may be facing this situation is because your readers are yet to see you as an authority in your niche. The fact that you are having much traffic is not necessarily a reflection of your authority on the subject you blo g about. It could be that you get the traffic simply because of numerous backlinks or some pretty good referrals. For you to make significant headway in your blogging business, you need to become an authority of some sorts. Or, in words which are more blogger-oriented, you need to become an influencer. If the problem is lack of authority, then you have some work to do. It is not difficult anyway. And to prove it, here are six things you can do to become an authority in your niche.Define your niche betterAlthough you may have done this before you started blogging, do not ignore the possible need to go back to it. This could be the difference between thriving and struggling. When you look at how big brands do business, you will learn a valuable lesson about defining your niche. For example, there are car manufacturers who focus only on luxury. Some go ahead and focus purely on the super luxury. If you were to check their sales figures, they would be too low to compare with brands which sel l to the not-so-wealthy customers. For instance, Toyota has a hold on this niche whereas others like Rolls Royce have a hold on the luxury niche. When you understand your niche well, you focus on it and eventually attract only that. Your niche will always pay off.Pursuing a broad niche, like Toyota, can also work. But you will need to come up with some smart ways to push your brand.Know your customerOnce your niche is well defined, then you can study your prospective customer. What kind of interests does he have? What is he likely to respond to? Which words must you use in your writing? What style should you write in? How often should you write?Knowing your customer also helps you solve the very problematic issue of high volume keywords. This is because you will know exactly which keywords to use.Since you have narrowed your focus, this becomes easier. If you are targeting the masses, you can still narrow down your focus and have a sub-niche. For example, if you are a fashion blogger, you could focus on men’s fashion. If there are many in that sub-niche, you can decide to focus on men’s suits.Be uniqueUnless you are inventing something totally new, you will have to make your product stand out. The internet is definitely a crowded place and you need to be unique. This is what is referred to having a Unique Selling Point (USP). This is what you will use to draw customers to your blog. If you want sign-ups, this is what you will use to show your content is very different from what is out there. Here are some tips on determining your Unique Selling Point.Write valuable contentThere will never be enough emphasis about the quality of content you have to write for maximum, or even considerable conversions. Content is primarily what will make you stand out. You may have a great product but the message is what will make it known.Whatever your product is, ensure it is valuable. This value is then what you will sell.Using the right words and writing style, communicating th is value will bring you the results you expect.Join relevant forumsThis is so important that if you fail to do it, you might take years to make a name. People are always talking, although it may not be on the comments section of your blog. It may not even be on your Facebook page. You will need to find out where the people in your niche meet up.Register to become a member then start participating in the conversations.Be careful not to directly market yourself, unless it is the norm in that platform.Since you are after customers, you need to go to open forums where people discuss about your niche. These people shouldn’t just be businesses but there should be customers too.Be on the lookout for questions asked and give very good and helpful answers. If you can be the first one to answer, the better.Gradually, you will be noticed for your expertise and when you link an answer to your blog, the people who visit will do exactly what you want them to do.Use testimonialsLastly, you have t o prove yourself to be valuable. But this you can’t just do using your own words. Let other people say it. Encourage people to share their experience working with you. Or their experience with the advice you gave them. You can ask for comments about the newsletters you send out then include that feedback on your blog. When new blog visitors see the positive feedback from other customers, then you stand better chances of being trusted more quickly.Studies show that feedback influences customers’ decisions. When a customer sees that other customers trust you, then it makes it easier for them to choose you too. This is why online stores   encourage buyers to give product reviews.Generally speaking, products with more positive reviews get bought more than those without. We have looked at the problem and seen how it might have come about. So what next?REPURPOSING YOUR BLOG TRAFFICIf you have been looking at the data and felt frustrated, cheer up. We have some advice for you.Just as junk materials are repurposed to produce more usable products, so can you repurpose the seemingly junk traffic. It might interest you to know that those numbers are not useless. As much as they are not giving you what you want, they provide a very good opportunity. You just have to know what to do with it.1. Redirect the Traffic to a Landing PageIf what you want are conversions, then you can have them. And one of the ways to repurpose the amount of traffic which is not converting is to redirect it to a landing page.Landing pages are a smart way of making conversions. They are mostly viewed as the first step in the lead generation process. The idea is simple: anyone who lands there and makes a move is a potential conversion. How do you know that?Because that is what the landing page is all about. Landing pages are designed to filter traffic. Anyone taking the action described is essentially saying that they want what you are offering. The trick is in designing the page in a way which will make people take action. When you redirect the heavy traffic to a landing page created to do the job well, you will certainly see results.Since the communication on the page is clear and direct, anyone who is not for your product will leave. But anyone who is for it will surely buy. This option gives you a very ideal solution in which there is no loss at all on your side. If many leave, then no problem. They were leaving in the first place. If many buy, then you have an advantage. You can however be sure of one thing: if you do it right, you will see an increase in conversions. Here are some tips to help you set up a landing page. If you already have one but it’s under-performing, then you can make it better.1.1 Have a killer headline Landing page headlines are important not only for content but also for your landing page. The headline must be a serious attention grabber since it is what will determine whether the visitor stays longer. It must also be short. In fact, as short as possible. Not too short to be unable to provide meaning but short enough to arouse expectation.1.2 Use sub-headlinesYour sub-headline is the slightly-long description of your product. Normally, it comes right under your headline though this is not totally necessary. It’s possible that your overall communication about your offering may not make sense coming after the headline. You can have it above the headline but ensure it doesn’t stand out more than the headline.Choose a few words which will stand out and use them as your headline.Keep the font of your headline bigger than the sub-headline so as to communicate that it’s the headline.1.3 Include visualsIt is always a good idea to include an image. However, this is not a must. It is purely dependent on what your product is. If you think an image will help drive the point home, then use one.Along the lines of images are the use of videos. These can come in handy especially when your product requires some explanations. You can also use a vide o for when you want to include some entertainment aspect to your landing page.1.4 Your landing page should load fastIt is disappointing to click an ad on the search engine results page then watch the screen for more than 5 seconds waiting for the page to load. If this is the behavior of your page, then no-one will wait for your content to load.Ideally, your pages should not take more than 3 seconds to load. If they take anything around 5 seconds, then you need to work on them. Learn how to make pages load faster and improve them.1.5 Include trust signalsYour landing page should not lack any of the various types of trust signals. Trust signals prove to the skeptical reader that you can be trusted.A popular trust signal is Testimonials. These tell the blog visitor that other people have interacted with you and found you to be trustworthy. This makes the visitor confident in doing business with youâ€"whatever the business is.2. Use the Numbers to Show CredibilityAnother great way of mak ing use of the traffic you already have is by utilizing it for building trust. This will prove to be very beneficial regardless of how many loyal readers you already have. However, if you are having a problem with non-converting traffic, then it is possible that you haven’t achieved much credibility in the eyes of your readers. How do you do this?Use any of the traffic analysis tools available online. To make a strong case for yourself, avoid stating that you have X number of visitors every month. That is too general and many bloggers are doing that.Remember that you are working to increase conversions. Even if you are not converting your currently many visitors, build your base afresh for the new visitors. Break down the figures as much as possible. This is for your own analysis. Is the traffic coming only to one blog post? If so, then it means it is only that one post that has numerous backlinks. You can update it and include your numbers to draw in people. You will also use the stat s on your home page. If you have a landing page, include them there too.The idea is to ensure that people know your resources are widely read. That is your first step towards becoming an authority in your niche. If the traffic is hitting several blog posts, then do an average and indicate that individual posts get read by an average of X people. If you are able to get the time the traffic usually gets to your site, then you can also disclose that your posts get read X minutes after publishing them. All these will go a long way in establishing your credibility to new readers. People tend to believe facts and figures and so use these to your advantage. Just keep in mind that you need to up your writing game.Do more copywriting or get a professional to do it because you have to soon start converting your new visitors. If they still get disappointed, then your efforts will have been wasted yet they were meant to rescue you from a bad situation.3. Generate Revenue Using AdsThe last idea we w ill share is to “sell” your traffic. Yes, you can sell your traffic. In fact, many blogs do that. The only thing you should never sell is people’s personal details, i.e. names, email addresses etc. This is closely tied to the above idea of building credibility. In this case however, you are not the one benefiting from your traffic. At least not directly. You will actually be giving others an opportunity to benefit from your traffic. If you for example have 500,000 unique visitors per month, then your blog is a prime advertising platform. There are businesses looking for the right places to advertise. In case you do not know any, do not be afraid of asking. You can start on your blog. Strategically position an ad for advertising space somewhere on your posts. This has to be very visible.Mention some of the figures and ask the people interested to contact “sales.” Create a special email address for this or if you want, let the communication come through your default “info” email address.Designate the size of the banners to indicate the space in your blog you are willing to sell.Unlike someone who is looking for traffic, you already have it. And so, once you implement these ideas, you will instantly see the results.CONCLUSIONRejoice for you now have a remedy to the situation at hand.Implement it and come share the experience with us on the comments section below.

Analysis Of George Orwell s Animal Farm - 1433 Words

Farmhouse or Powerhouse? The Kremlin is known as a synonym for government; however, could a farmhouse be a symbol of government too? Some cases, such as in Animal Farm, say that it could. In George Orwell’s novella Animal Farm, Orwell symbolizes the Manor Farm’s Farmhouse as Moscow’s Kremlin through its uses, residents, and events to show that leaders often elevate or separate themselves to maintain their power over their subjects. The Kremlin is a monumental building in Moscow, Russia. Dating back to 1156, the Kremlin was constructed originally from wood. Losing its importance as a fortress in the 16th century, the building became the center of Russian government†¦show more content†¦The house, to the animals was a delicacy and a quiet place of residence for Mr and Mrs Jones, the owners of the farm; whereas, the Kremlin was used to house Czars, men of power, and was described in the same manner by citizens. The farmhouse in Animal Farm is where Jones ma kes his decisions regarding his farm; likewise, Czar Nicholas II makes his decisions for his country inside the Kremlin. Showing that both places represent a place where they could think and decide on ideas whether they be a crop plantation or a city law. When the Revolution began, Czar Nicholas II was run out of the Kremlin by the French (Borrero 240). Soon after he left, he became furious and decided to revisit to declare war on all of those who betrayed him (Price). Much like the incident of Mr. Jones being kicked out and coming back to regain leadership. During the beginning stages of the animal’s rebellion, Mr. Jones is removed from the farm. However in both cases, the rulers return. Jones returned with all his men, prepared to win back his land. Yet when he arrived, his previously owned animals threw themselves at the group of men, and, in the end, overpowered them. This power struggle between man and animal resulted in Jones and his men leaving, mostly for good. The a nimals uprised and managed to get to enough of the men to scare them all away. By looking at the annual report for 2010 it is very clear that VF Corp has performed very well over the past year. We will write a custom essay sample on Analyst Report or any similar topic only for you Order Now The total revenues for 2010 were $482,303 more than the total revenues for 2009. The long-term debt for the company reduces by $2,612 from 2009. With the various brand names that VF Corp has, it is clear that the total revenue will always increase as the demand for those brands increases, which they have been increasing. To add to their brand base VF Corp just recently bought the company Timberland so that too will help increase their earnings. By purchasing another popular name brand VF Corp will have a number of appealing brands that the public is always interested in purchasing. This helps VF Corp in the future because the more brands they purchase, the larger their consumer population will become. By doing so they are also highlighting one of their major goals addressed in their mission statement, which states â€Å"Our goal is to continuously exceed the expectations of our consumers, customers, shareholders and business partners. † Part 2: Company Profile †¢ Ticker symbol: VFC †¢ Mission Statement as it is printed in the Annual Report: We will grow by building leading lifestyle brands that excite consumers around the world. Wiseman †¢ Name of CFO: Robert K. Shearer †¢ Stock classifications (common, preferred, both): Common †¢ Exchange (NYSE, Nasdaq): New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Part 3: Projections: Based on the graph of the stock performance I project that the stock prices will steadily increase in the years to come. During the 2009 recession the stock levels for VF Corp went down but bounced right back up towards the 70’s closer to 2010. Since then the stock levels slowly increased each month and now are at a steady positive increase and I believe that it will continue to increase. Also VF Corp is associated with various clothing and apparel companies and regardless of how serious the economy might decline, people will still go out and buy clothes. VF Corp is also associated with a number of big name brands such as The North Face, Lee, Vans, Timberland, Nautica, Wrangler, Majestic, Jansport, and many other brands. These different brands are very popular these days and their sales are always going up so the overall stocks for VF Corp will continue in a positive slope. [pic] Part 4: Current Events The first article discusses how VF Corp is purchasing â€Å"VF Arvind Brands Private Limited†. This company is responsible for marketing VF Corp’s brands throughout India. This is helpful for VF Corp because it can market its own brands and spread throughout Asia as well. This would allow VF Corp to not only have the final say on how exactly it markets its products but to also choose the locations that they want the products to be marketed at. Overall this purchase will greatly benefit VF Corp right now and in the future as well. The second article discusses how VF Corp is set to buy the brand Timberland. By doing so not only is VF Corp helping increase its profits but Timberland’s as well. Timberland is a famous company that primarily sells boots. This would greatly increase VF Corp’s variety in terms of outdoor wear. By purchasing Timberland VF Corp will also be able to expand oversees as the article stated. Since most of the sales from Timberland occur in China, this would help VF Corp market not only Timberland but many of their other name brands. This purchase will definitely have some very positive results in the future and if more purchases like this are made then VF Corp will increase its earning greatly. Part 5: Recommendations: Based on the information that I’ve gathered about this corporation I strongly suggest that investors should move fast and â€Å"buy† stocks from this company. Using the current ratio I can see that the company’s liquidity levels will be increasing in the years to come and since the economy is slowly recovering it is clear that VF Corp is going to do well in terms of stock sales. The difference between the current ratio of 2010 and 2009 is 0. 14. though this might not seem like a large enough of a number to make a huge difference, in reality it does. The profit margin between the two years has also increased by 1. %. All of this information tells me that VF Corp is a company that you should invest in because the company is only going on a positive direction. Article 1: VF Corporation To Acquire Joint Venture in India Published: November 2, 2011 GREENSBORO, N. C. , BANGALORE, India–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 2, 2011– VF Corporation (NYSE: VFC), a gl obal leader in branded lifestyle apparel, today announced that its subsidiary, VF Mauritius, has acquired full ownership of VF Arvind Brands Private Limited, a majority-owned joint venture between VF Mauritius and Arvind Limited formed in 2006 to market VF brands in India. Our business in India is strong, and now is the time to assume full ownership,† said Eric C. Wiseman, Chairman, President and CEO of VF Corporation. â€Å"Anchored by our Lee ® and Wrangler ® brands, the Indian market will provide a robust platform for future growth in the Asia-Pacific region. † Aidan O’Meara, President, VF Asia, noted: â€Å"VF is grateful for the contribution Arvind made to the development of a fast-growing and profitable business for our brands in India. VF and Arvind will continue to have a strong working relationship, now and in the future. † O’Meara added that he does not expect any impact to jobs or changes in the day-to-day operations of the business in India. The new name of the wholly owned business in India has not yet been announced. Article 2: VF Corporation to Buy Timberland BY MICHAEL J. DE LA MERCED The VF Corporation agreed on Monday to buy the Timberland Company, the boot maker, for about $2 billion in cash, paying a big premium in an effort to bolster its outdoor clothing offerings. VF, which already owns lines like Wrangler and 7 for All Mankind, will add Timberland to a stable of outdoor brands like the North Face and Eastpak. Eric C. Wiseman, VF’s chairman and chief executive, described the Timberland deal on Monday as a â€Å"transformative† acquisition that will add footwear to his company’s fastest-growing unit. The outdoor and action sports business reported a 14 percent gain in revenue last year, to $3. 2 billion. â€Å"We are confident in our ability to take big brands and make them bigger,† he said during an investor conference call. Still, VF is paying up: Under the terms of the deal, it will pay $43 a share, a more than 40 percent premium to Timberland’s Friday closing price. Founded in Abington, Mass. , in 1952 by the Swartz family, Timberland became synonymous with American work garments and outdoor clothing, particularly with its hard-wearing boots. But the company has faced rising materials costs, with its operating margins falling to just 9 percent last year. It reported a 30 percent drop in first-quarter profits this year. VF executives appeared confident that it could wring profits by improving Timberland’s business performance, primarily by folding it into the apparel giant’s global platform and cutting costs. On an investor call with analysts, VF’s chief financial officer, Bob Shearer, said his company planned to raise its new acquisition’s operating margin to 15 percent, in line with the rest of the conglomerate’s brands. In Timberland, VF also sees an opportunity to expand its presence overseas. Though Timberland’s popularity in the United States surged years ago, the brand remains popular in high-growth markets like China. The company also has a foothold in Japan, where VF is still building out its presence. VF executives expect to reap benefits from the Timberland deal soon after its closing, which is expected in the third quarter this year. Timberland is expected to begin adding to VF’s earnings by 45 cents a share this year and 90 cents next year, excluding acquisition costs. VF plans to keep Timberland based in Stratham, N. H. Members of the Swartz family have agreed to support the deal. The Timberland sale appeared to stoke hopes that other outdoor apparel makers could soon go on the block as well. Among the big gainers was Wolverine World Wide, another maker of rugged work boots, whose shares jumped about 5. 1 percent to $39. 08. Columbia Sportswear, another purveyor of activewear, rose 1. 7 percent to $59. 43. Shares of VF also rose, gaining 10 percent on Monday to $101. 01. Usually, an acquirer’s shares fall after a deal is announced, as shareholders worry about the transaction being overpriced. Shares in Timberland soared 44 percent to $43. 20. Analysts praised the deal, citing VF’s history of integrating brands into its business platform. â€Å"We regard Timberland as a high-quality brand that has been operationally challenged for a number of years,† analysts at Sterne Agee wrote in a research note on Monday. â€Å"We believe that VF has exhibited a strong track record and the capabilities to rectify many of the historical problems. † How to cite Analyst Report, Essay examples

Jesse # 8217 ; s household is rather hapless and high strung. Jesse # 8217 ; s female parent is a homemaker. She cooks ; she cleans and raises the kids. Jesse # 8217 ; s male parent is normally angry. He works and attempts to convey place some money. Until he gets laid off but even so he doesn # 8217 ; t give up. He wakes up at the same clip of all time forenoon to travel to the unemployment office. Jesse # 8217 ; s two older sisters are Brenda and Ellie. All they do is whine to acquire off of making their jobs and knock Jesse for anything. His younger sister May Belle, looks up to him but he tries to move like an older, tougher brother and doesn # 8217 ; t give her much idea, even though he loves her. The youngest sister, Joyce Ann isn # 8217 ; t truly mentioned except when Jesse tries to force May Belle to her so she # 8217 ; ll leave him entirely and when Jesse # 8217 ; s female parent cries at him because of her. Jesse # 8217 ; s avocations are his art and running. Before Leslie moved in, his best friend see med to be Miss Bessie, the cow. She would watch him run every morning. Leslie’s family on the other hand is actually rich. Both her parents are writers and they decided to move because they felt they were getting too absorbed in their money and lifestyle. Leslie is an only child but even though she is it seems as if she doesn’t spend much time with her father. When her father was fixing up the house and asked her to help she felt so needed and happy. It seems as if he’s always busy with his books that he barely spends time with her. Leslie calls her parents by their first names, which confuses Jesse. Leslie’s hobbies are scuba diving and making up great stories. An important message is how Jesse was always so afraid of water, mainly because he couldn’t swim and Leslie gave him the courage to swing over the creek. It was ironic how she ended up drowning in the end. Another important message was how Jesse and May Belle â€Å"connected† in the end after Leslie died. He took her to Terabithia and over a real bridge that Jesse made. May Belle was now part of Leslie’s and Jesse’s kingdom. She was the new queen of Terabithia. I was upset when I finished the book. I wasn’t expecting Leslie to die on Jesse’s â€Å"perfect day†. The poor boy had enough problems. I don’t think his best friend should’ve died. I really enjoyed the ending. Through out the book I felt as if May Belle was always excluded and she really needed her older brother. I was very glad to see that Jesse brought May Belle to Terabithia and made her the new queen. I hated to two older sisters, they seemed to be cold hearted. I didn’t like Janice from school either until I found out what her problem was. All in all I thought it was a great book with many characters and lots of ambition. I was happy to see that even though Leslie died, Terabithia did not.

Extraverts are considered to more outgoing, talkative, and social and are focused on the stimuli that are outside of their own self and understanding. Extraverts have shown a high need for achievement in almost any field. As extraverts tend to be happier and outgoing, their need for self achievement is greatly higher than those of other people (Vitterso 92).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The study of extraversion and the need for achievement. specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Hypothesis: the study will determine how much more are extraverts outgoing and achieving than people that are not either extraverts or introverts. Procedure: to determine levels of achievement for extraverts a part of the study will analyze person’s behavior in an educational institution. Another part o f the study will look at the amount of work someone has completed in their job. Several workplaces will be consulted, more specifically local supermarket, a restaurant and a mechanics shop. Conclusion: the expected results will show that extraverts are more determined in their education and professional careers and have a higher achievement rate than people who do not qualify themselves as extraverts. Abstract: the study of extraverts that was meant to show the correlation between achievement level and personal characteristics determined that people who are outgoing, have a higher level of achievement, as well the amount of work is significantly increased (Huang 1130). Introduction: Extraversion, a personal characteristic has shown to influence how a person behaves in both social and private settings. The output of their efforts is much higher that of other people and their need for achievement is directly related to their personal characteristics. Method: the study looked at an edu cational institution where students were given a questionnaire where they self-evaluated their determination and needs for achievement. The criteria were divided into low achievement, medium, high and extra high. They also evaluated themselves in private setting versus social. The information was gathered from their peers, friends and professors. In a private setting, the questionnaires were given to their parents and siblings.Advertising Looking for essay on social sciences? Let's see if we can help you! In a work environment the employee was given a form where they have filled in the amount of hours they work per week and in a month. Overtime was a major determinant of the achievement. The employer was consulted on the personal input of the employee with the amount of ideas and personal determination to work extra. Results: the results of the study have shown a direct correlation between extraversion and the need for achievement. Students have shown increased extracurricular activities and participation in the class. The professors have provided statistics that displayed the amount of time they have spent after class and the individual determination to help prepare the materials for the next study. Personal questionnaires and statistics of time spent in a private and social setting showed positive and increased scores. The study of work environment and achievement has produced similar results, where extraverts would have an increase in work hours, overtime, early work arrival and late leave. Also employer’s data has shown a higher than usual participation of individuals in the company’s matters and implementation of new ideas. Discussion: It is clear that people with an extravert quality have higher levels of activity, have the n eed to participate in more aspects of social and private lives than those who do not think of themselves as extraverts. The interesting fact is that extraverts primarily, have a personal need to do more and no one influences their decision. The basis for such behavior is psychological and social, mostly centered on the environment and biological predisposition (Sojka 183). The American health care need to be reformed Essay

The American health care need to be reformed - Essay Example For many years it was believed that the American health care system is the best in the world. But now so many shortcomings have been identified. "The 42.6 million people in the US currently without health insurance are acutely aware that our healthcare system is not working for everyone, and there is growing recognition that the major problems of rising cost and lack of access constitute a real crisis".( "The U.S. Health Care System" 1) The majority of US healthcare are out patient based. The personal primary healthcare physicians, specialist physicians, non-physicians including nurses and pharmacists constitute the healthcare system. There are mainly two types of hospitals the for-profit hospitals and the non-profit hospitals. The former is operated by privet corporations and the later by the government or by some religious or other organizations. The hospitals provide out patient service in emergency room and they also have inpatient section. The payment of healthcare for most of the Americans is through the employer but the cost of which is increasing now a days. The government now subsidizes employer-paid health care. This is done by exempting employer contributions from taxation as income. The government sponsored Medicare and Medicaid covers the uninsured people in the US. The programmes like Tricare and Veterans administration provide insurance coverage to the elderly people in America. But now the number of physicians accepting the Medicaid decreasing due to the increase in the administrative cost as compared to the reimbursement. The Census Bureau found last year that almost 44 million Americans had gone without health insurance for the previous year. That number has been increasing by roughly 2 million a year. Families USA, a consumer group, says that almost 82 million people, one out of three below age 65, were uninsured at some point during 2002-03, most of them for at least nine months. (Broder, D.S., A21) III. SYSTEM INEFFICIENCIES AND INEQUITIES INEFFICIENCIES 1. Delays in seeking care and increased use of emergency care-Usually American people have a habit of not going to preventive healthcare and regular medical check ups and finally when they reach the hospital for treatment the disease may get advanced and more intensive care is needed. This causes the increase in the amount of reimbursement. The people without the insurance are twice as likely to visit hospital emergency rooms as those with insurance; burdening a system meant for true emergencies with less-urgent care needs. In patients with privet insurance cancer is diagnosed only in the late stage or in the advanced incurable state only and they need more costly procedures than the people who diagnose the disease in the early stage. The people without privet insurance get less chance to attend the cancer screening tests than the others with the privet insurance plans. 2. Shared cost of uninsured- The service providers

Argentine Military Terror Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Argentine Military Terror - Essay Example Other than the communist and capitalist struggles, the Argentine military played a significant role in the dirty war, which targeted the citizens. This essay will therefore investigate how Argentina military became an integral element of the 1970-1980 s terrorism. The essay will also investigate factors that caused left wing and right wing struggles to degenerate into brutality. The dirty war had its origin in the early 1970 s where military officials played a key role in committing acts of genocide against the civilian population. The operations were conducted under the leadership of Jorge Rafael Videla who took over from Isabella Martinez. Under Videla’s leadership, the Argentine military was ready to deal with anyone who opposed the authoritarian regime of Jorge Videla (Marvin web). Firstly, the military targeted trade unionists and college students, protesters and right wing activists. The military applied immediate tactics in dealing with protesters such as kidnappings and detentions without trials. In the late 1970 s, the target changed from those who opposed the government to those who were suspected to be against the regime or those who had conflicts with the regime (Marvin web). The military is also accused of mass murder of dirty war victims most of whom were never accounted for. The Argentina’s dirty war is considered as the darkest moment of the country’s history. During this period, the government is accused to have killed between 9,000 and 30,000 argentines in its effort to curb social activism that came to be known as left wing movement. It is obvious that the argentine regime was part of the right wing faction. There are various reasons that led the left and right conflict to degenerate into a brutal confrontation. Firstly, the US government offered support to the argentine authority in its effort to eliminate the right wing activism that was champion by the Russians. The independence of Argentina also introduced social

Working Environment of Lloyds TSB Introduction: Lloyds TSB group is the UK‘s biggest organisation. More than 66000 are working for this organisation in UK and in 27 countries around the globe. The business serves around 16 million customers operating in a range of financial markets, including personal and private banking, corporate banking, insurance and mortgages. Lloyds TSB is working globally and competes within rapidly changing markets for the delivery of financial services to personal and business customers. Customers expect a high range of services to be available 24 hours a day and delivered with first class customers service. In order t remain top in this demanding market, Lloyds TSB has acquired the services of innovative human resource management policies to ensure Lloyds TSB is a great place to work and that its staff are happy, motivated and committed to give highest levels of performance to the organisation and its customers. In 1998, the Group conducted reseach with employees, which showed that one of their main concerns was being able to balance a demanding job with outside commitments, such as family life, hobbies and leisure activities. This led to the Group designing and introducing a unique flexible working policy, called Work Options one year later. This gave a chance to workers to structure their working arrangements in a way that helps them to achieve a better Work Life Balance. According to this policy all staff has got the right to request a different working pattern form standard 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Lloyds TSB is widely recognised as one of the best employers for providing flexibility for its staff. Because of this positive and flexible approach, Lloyds TSB is able to attract, appoint, motivate and retain the best staff available, which in turn keeps customers happy and keeps the organisation at top of the financial services field. The Changing Work Environment Lloyds TSB has always given importance to change in work environment and this proves the key to drive the bank out from the crises Lloyds TSB has rejected the traditional. Work routine of the 20th century. Lloyds TSB has offered flexible work options to all of its staff and put into place it own procedures to allow every member of staff, not just with young children, the right to request to work flexibly. This Lloyds TSB stands out from other employers. By 2010, it is estimated that 85% of the growth in the UK workforce will be women. 62% of the Lloyds TSB workforce is female and around 2,000 staff takes maternity leave each year. Of these, around 87% return to work for the company after their leave. This is an important statistic. In a tightening labour market, business must attract high calibre staff and then retain their services. Lloyds TSBs reputation on flexible working is a very important factor in achieving this. The Business case for Flexibility Flexible working is not merely of benefit to staff but it makes excellent business environment too. Lloyds TSB believes its ability to deal efficiently and effectively with the need for flexibility strengthens its position as an employer of choice and enables the group to deliver levels of service that differentiate Lloyds TSB from its competitors. Customers take advantage by getting to deal with professional, friendly enthusiastic and well knowledgeable persons. In an increasingly competitive market place where retailers, supermarkets and other companies can also offer financial services. Lloyds TSB needs customer service excellence around the clock to stay in competition. Lloyds TSB developed its own flexible approach in 1999 to help attract and retain the best staff. The Group‘s own leaver surveys (questionnaires completed by people leaving the business) showed that flexibility was the main reason for them joining them initially. This is also supported by a national survey which showed that flexible working was a more important factor that pays for graduates in choosing an employer. Employees need motivation and commitment. Research shows that people are more productive and experience less stress when they have control over the hours they work. So flexible working helps Lloyds TSB to gain the long term commitment and motivation of well qualified and experienced staff. It is far more expensive to recruit and train new staff than to retain existing ones. Flexible working generates cost savings too. Traditional work patterns usually involved fixed hours between 9.00 am to 5pm. Work beyond these hours was paid by employers overtime rates like time and half or more driving up staff costs. With the introduction of flexibility, Lloyds TSB has been able to extend staff cover at no added cost. In todays world, people with lifestyles require financial services at any time. Peak customer demand does not follow a traditional 9.00 am to 5pm working day either. For Lloyds TSB flexible arrangements allow employees personal benefits to suit their own lives and deliver a more complete service to customers. So from the above it is clear Lloyds TSB was ahead of the game when it came to introducing flexible working patterns. The Group was aware that economic and social changes meant that people often live complex lives in and out side of work. Far sighted management at Lloyds TSB saw the benefits to the business of recruiting and keeping excellent people, who would be willing to build a career in the Group. The impact of credit crunch on Lloyds TSB The phase means a severe shortage of money or credit and this comes about when banks and other lenders lose confidence and are no longer wiling to lend to each other or to other borrowers. According to report published at Yorkshire Post dated 06 May 2008, Lloyds TSB revealed a further  £387 million hit from the credit crunch but signalled there would be no need for a cash call to investors. In a another report published in Herald Scotland dated 30 July 2008, writes that credit crunch hammers Lloyds TSB as bank profits drop 70 % But Lloyds TSB has worked according to a certain plan faced the situation well. Continuous Improvement and Lloyds TSB Lloyds TSB believes in excellent customers service and smooth and transparent banking. Lloyds TSB has introduced online banking, provided numerous ATM machines to their customers and made the banking relatively easy and convenient. Lloyds TSB and IT transformation Realizing that the effort to improve its IT capabilities would require faster, deeper change than it could manage in-house, Lloyds TSB partnered with Accenture to create an IT competency that aligns IT delivery with the banks strategic priorities. Processes, tools and methodologies were brought closer to best practise, and the skills and experience of IT staff were improved. Lloyds TSB is making significant progress towards creating a high performance IT environment that aligns IT delivery with the banks strategic priorities. The Accenture/ Group IT team is confident that the improving IT initiative will help Lloyds TSB create a high performance business propelled by consistent increase in customer satisfaction and competitive differentiation.

Catch a Fire Essay

The book â€Å"Catch a Fire† is a beautiful description of the Jamaican culture, the Rastafarian faith, the growth and development of reggae music and how it all added up to make Bob Marley’s life. All of those elements of what made Bob Marley â€Å"human† will be talked about and explained in this paper. The best artists are the ones who have passed but there work still lives on and Bob Marley left an unforgettable mark on modern music, both as a reggae creator and as a cultural icon. His beliefs and values helped him become a part of the Rastafarian faith and grow into a great musician whose music is still listened to today. The author, Timothy White, did an amazing job describing Bob’s background giving his readers a much greater appreciation for Marley and his music. Jamaicans are often stereotyped as carefree and fun loving. While most Jamaicans do value a sense of humor, as well as music and dance, they also have a tradition of hard work and a strong respect for education. Bob Marley, the son of a black teenage mother and much older white father, was born in Jamaica in the village known as Nine Miles. Born early in 1945, Bob was raised by his mother and relatives and was always surrounded by tales of mysticism and spiritual beings of the Jamaican culture that influenced his daily life. Around the time Bob was born, in 1944, Jamaicans gained the right to vote because of the new constitution. (1) During this time the population grew and there weren’t much job opportunities, leading to an expanding slum population. Class, color, and ethnicity were a big deal in Jamaica and would play a huge role of where you would fit in, work, or even shop. Bob once said, â€Å"I don’t stand for black man’s side, I don’t stand for white man’s side, I stand for God’s side. †(2) The Jamaican history has not been a peaceful one, but its struggles have created one of the strongest cultures. The Rastafarian faith was one of the biggest influences of why Bob’s music and the way he lived was the way it was. It all started with Marcus Garvey, who was responsible for bringing Rastafarianism to the islands. Garvey was famous for the saying â€Å"Look to Africa†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (â€Å"Catch a Fire† pg. 8) This statement set the stage for what will be the making of Rastafarianism. Rastafarianism got so popular that when Haile Selassie came to Jamaica in 1966 over 100,000 Rastas surrounded his plane. The late 1960’s is when Bob truly began to find himself and accept his religion and put its beliefs into his songs like â€Å"Rastaman Vibration† and â€Å"Jah Live. † Not only did the Rastafarian faith help Bob with his music, it helped him find who he really was and grow as a person. He finally started to see the beauty in life. Marley started making music in ska and Rock Steady then eventually moved towards reggae as his music evolved. Much of Marley’s early work was produced by Coxsone Dodd at Studio One then he signed to Chris Blackwell’s Island Records label in 1971. Marley’s music was one of the main reasons reggae was accepted outside of Jamaica. Although Bob couldn’t escape all the troubles of the ghetto, without music, he would have been right there in Kingston with those rude boys and bad men causing trouble. Music brought out the best in Bob and showed him the true values of life. The â€Å"King of Reggae†, Bob Marley made such an impact on the music industry with his creativity and passion he put into his music and performances. As you can see, Bob would have never made it happen without his Jamaican cultural background, his Rastafarian faith or his love for music. His thinking and beliefs were always voiced in his songs speaking of love, peace, equality and his spirituality. And, after almost three decades since his death, his music is still listened to by millions of people around the world.

Time Management for Right-Brained

MANAGING TIME USING THE RIGHT BRAIN As we prepare ourselves to meet the challenges of the new century, we need to be concerned about the most critical of all resources, Time. As the pressure to become more competitive builds up, this resource is becoming more and more scarce. One can create and destroy any resource, but not time. However, the way time is managed differs from person to person. It is not how much time one has that is important. It is what do one does with one’s time. Most people have ambitions and aspirations in life. Every one wishes that he or she manages the goals in life successfully. But the critical issue is only a few succeed in reaching them in full. Why is that? There are different words to describe an outcome or an end result : ‘wish’, ‘desire’, ‘need’, ‘wants’, ‘goals’, are some of them. Of these, the word ‘goal’ presupposes a time frame and quantification and some efforts. B ut there is one more dimension to a goal in terms of its strength and intensity as understood by the mine. It is called ‘empowerment’. Empowerment is the process of giving an inner strength and wherewithal to reach the goal in spite of obstacles. It results in a mindset of restlessness and urge to reach the set goal.We need to look at the concept of time management from a different perspective. The process of what goes on in the mind is more important than what is exbibited outside a person in terms of setting priorities and pursuing various activities. To make a success of time management, it should be first be understood that it is a mind driven concept and not a system driven practice. To understand why some people manage time well, we should locate the seat of all our goals and aspiration in life. For this we should understand the working of the human brain. The human brain has two halves : the left and the right. The left brain is involved in language skills, it is analytical and it processes information in a linear fashion one after the other. It is logical and verbal. The right brain is the intuitive part of the brain, which is holistic and non-linear. This imaginative and creative part is responsible for the dreaming function. One this aspect of the brain is understood, it is easy to interpret what goes on in the mind of a successful person who manages his time effectively. In fact, there is no such thing as time management. The issue is self-management through pursuing an empowerment through emotional commitment. Any one who attaches a deep sense of emotion to the goal finds out a way of setting priorities to realise the same. He is able to withstand all the pains of initiating the controlling the various actions towards reaching his goal. For transferring the goal to the right brain, the visualisation skill of the right brain should be used. Before trying to manage one’s time, one should start with a powerful picture of the goal in his mind. One should visualise the goal with emotional attachment. It could all start with what others may dub it as a fantasy. After all, when you think about it, all inventions are a result of some one’s fantasies! 1 When the goal is powerfully represented in the mind through a bright picture of the future, the effect of the same involves the person so emotionally that it gets into his subconscious mind. The right brain alone can understand a person’s emotional attachment to his goal. When confronted with problems while reaching one’s goals, the left brain is logical and analytical and reasons out how it is impossible to reach the goal given the difficult circumstances. It reasons out how intense will be the problems to be surmounted, and, if allowed to prevail on the mine, will make the person to give up his goal. The way the right brain interprets the goal is different. It is not logical but intuitive. It is emotionally involved in the process of goal setting and will not give up. The right brain is not logical but creative and thinks about innovative ways of reaching the goal. It has already visualised the final scene of the goal achievement and hence ‘knows’ how nice it is to be in that situation of achievement and will not rest until newer and alternative methods of reaching the goal are found.A limiting belief makes you feel you are not capable of performing, as you want to due to some things present in the external system. Actually, limitation is not outside the person. It is within the mind. This is mainly due to the interpretation of the situation by the left brain, as it understands the situation. In such a situation, the right brain has to be used to get emotionally connected with the goal. This process will make the person believe in himself and his abilities to reach the goal. (Source : N.
